Back on...

Thanks to Chris James, I now have a working phone. Sadly, I seemed to have lost a lot of numbers, so I may be tracking some of you down some other way.

Phone down...

I know this is a random thing to post, but here you go. I broke my phone last night making a call while doing the dishes. I guess the soapy water was a little too much for my old school Nokia. That's what I get for doing the dishes, huh? Anyway... if anyone needs to get a hold of me, which is rarely the case, just call Greg's phone. Also, if anyone has an old T-Mobile phone lying around that they'd like to sell me, I'll take it.

Baby Blessings

Today we had Kate and Ethan's baby blessings at church. Everything was wonderful and we thought we would share a few pictures of this special day for our family.

First trip to downtown/Nordstrom

We ventured out into the city for the first time this past week. We were very nervous as to how the kids would do, but we brought everything we needed to keep them fed and changed so off we went. It was great and the kids were very well behaved.

The one really noteworthy thing that happened was Kate's first trip to Nordstrom. As the photos show, this was a special moment. Kate became VERY alert as we got close, as well as very quiet. Lauren later described the feeling as a "still, small voice" that speaks to young shoppers.



As soon as we went in, Kate went into sensory overload. With eyes as wide as we have ever seen them, this next picture shows Kate when she saw the purse she wanted.



And this was the reaction when Dad said no.



All in all, a great time downtown, and we learned that we can still get out and have some fun with our little ones along for the ride.

Kate directs the symphony

We think Kate would make a great symphony conductor. She is already practicing several times a day, as you will see in the videos below. We should note that in the first video, you'll hear Ethan's enormous burp, which is why we started laughing halfway through. This second video also shows Kate's music leading skills, but demonstrates her major downfall--she gets distracted VERY easily.

All caught up!

Lots of posts today, we were wanting to get caught up on the past few days. Here is one last pic of the kids hanging out together yesterday. We think they'll be great friends.

After Dinner Party

We haven't put up a video in a while, so we thought we'd post up one we took of the little friends after they had just eaten a couple nights ago. Nothing special, but getting them both so content at the same time is always video-worthy to us.

Church...finally

After who-knows-how-long of not quite being able to make it to Church, we finally had a successful attempt last week. It was great to be back, although a little tiring.

Thanks Mom!

For the past week and a half, Greg's Mom has been in town to help us cope with the struggles of two newborns. We aren't sure how much sleep she got, but we are sure glad she came to help. We couldn't have survived these past couple weeks without her and wonder how we'll survive the next two!

Little Feet

We think little Kate has cute feet. Especially when she constantly manages to unbundle herself so she can show them off.

Ethan Sleeps Through Everything

Ethan sleeps so much, we aren't sure he knows he's been born yet. He sleeps through everything, including his baths. Good thing too, because if they were both as wired as little Kate, we'd be in serious trouble!

We Leave the House!

About a week ago, we ventured out for the first time with Kate and Ethan in a social setting. Sure it was just 6 floors down from our apartment and we could have left at any time, but we are still proud to have survived all the same.

As promised...

Mr. Ethan and Miss Kate took a trip to the doctor today. I was all set with my camera to take pictures of them in their 'going out' outfits since all of our posts so far have them in pjs, but since they took an hour to eat this morning and we were rushing out the door, it had to be delayed. Then, after poking and prodding, 2 shots and a delayed feeding, they were NOT about to smile for a photo. This feeding was laced with bright orange Tylenol that found its way to their clothes and well, you get the picture. No photo, but let me tell you, they were lookin good. Anyway, the doctor was VERY impressed with their weight gain and said they were doing very well (Kate weighed in at 8lbs. 12 oz. and Ethan at 9 lbs. 10 oz. Both are 20.5 inches). Miss Kate has decided that reflux would be a fun challenge for her parents, and the doctor gave us some tips. To that, we say, "bring it on." Actually, we are quite fearful, but as I look at the face I'm holding in my arms, I'm sure going to try my best. Here's to a night of very little sleep...

Seven Weeks

Ethan wasn't too happy to be having a photo shoot on a pink blanket, so we had to move quickly to male-bonding time.






Believe it or not, we are still alive. The twins are getting bigger and cuter each day. Their official due date was last Sunday (April 27th) so developmentally they're about a week old and are starting to show their true colors. They are awake much more each day and they are so much fun. We even went to church on Sunday. Ethan slept through the whole thing and Kate had a fussy moment during Sacrament Meeting, but really. Who doesn't? A lot of people commented how tiny they are, which is so funny to me because I think they're looking so big. They are officially out of their preemie clothes. I know it's a REALLY good thing that they're getting so big, but it's a little bitter sweet because my tiny little babies are growing up. Tune in next week for high school graduation photos...

Dr. Fee

Here is the woman that made it all happen. Dr. Fee was the best doctor I could have asked for and that's a lot considering I saw her every week for 14 weeks! She was the one who caught the problem when I was 20 weeks pregnant, suffered through many of my tears, fainting spells and throw up, put in the cerclage and saved me from a C-Section. My only complaint about her is that she wouldn't agree to move to California with me. Ethan doesn't seem to be too fond of her. That might be because 14 weeks chillin in the birth canal caused quite a misshapen head. Oh well, he'll grow out of it. Thanks, Dr. Fee!

Update...

Thanks for all the great tips!!!! I am happy to report that Ethan's bum is looking so much better! We started with the home remedies since we had already bought so many creams. So, the triple action that worked for us was: Triple Paste, me taking Lactaid, and BLOWDRYING his bum. What a great idea! It not only helped his bum, but he totally loves it, so we started doing it to Kate as well. Warm air and that soothing sound, who wouldn't love that?
