Doctor Anyone?

I know most of the people who check this blog sadly do not live in the area, but I'm looking for a pediatrician (or any doctor really). We have to turn in our insurance paperwork by this Thursday and I'm frantically trying to figure everything out. I'm taking any and all recommendations (even the ones to avoid would be helpful as well). Thanks!

One Whole Year!!!

Okay, so really it was 2 halves. Tonight, we had a little gathering to celebrate each of their half birthdays. We had a half cake, even half presents and cards. Sadly, they'll have to each make it to a year before they can eat their cake. (P.S. We tested out caramel frosting. YUM!!!). The second picture is all the Packers at the party. Side note, I don't know why I looked so strange in this picture. I'm in so few pictures with these guys, you would think I would try to make them count.

First Feed

So, I know first solid feeding shouldn't normally merit a blog post, but the pictures turned out so cute, I thought it should. And let's be honest. With twins, it's not like we really do anything that's all that exciting anyway. Walks and naps; that's all we've got.

Sometimes I think Kate has really adult facial expressions, as if to say, "Mom, you don't know what you're doing."

Ethan is always a baby to me and I like it that way.

A bunch of sickos

So, I know I start a lot of my posts with, "These past couple of weeks have been crazy," and I hate to sound redundant, but... these past couple of weeks have been crazy. Sadly, the most exciting thing that happened would be that DVR found its way into our lives. Welcome to the 21st century, I know. Anyway, we moved into our new apartment. It is is such a fun place. We go on at least one, sometimes two, walks a day. The people at King Tacos and Pinkberry will soon know us by name. The kids had their first experience with sickness this week and I learned that there is a part of parenthood that really stinks. There is no more gut-wrenching sound in the world than a baby who wants to cry because his mom is trying to clear his nose with one of those nose-sucker-thingies, but can't because a) he doesn't have the strength to and b) he has no voice even if he did. It has been so hard to listen to them (especially Ethan, he's been more sick than Kate) try to sleep and every once in a while whimper in a hoarse voice. I REALLY do not want to complain. I know I have been very blessed with 2 beautifully healthy (and some might say too healthy, if you know what I mean) babies and I just cannot possibly imagine having a baby truly sick, but this was my first gut-wrenching blow and it took a lot out of me. It didn't help that I was also sick, but I think we are all starting to feel a lot better and tomorrow should bring my healthy, happy babies back. I do have a few pictures to leave you with... Greg thought that we had all the things that needed assembly done with. At least this time he had a little help. The finished product... The best thing about our new place is that it came with new friends built right into the place! Ethan found his friend to be hilarious and of course when I tried to catch it on video, he tamed his enjoyment, but you can get the idea. Oh, I can't wait to hear that voice again!

6 Quirks

A friend posted about her 6 quirks and it got me thinking about mine. I personally love quirks; good or bad, it's what makes a person who they really are. I know people only check this blog for pictures of the twins, so I've hid this behind some photos. Anyway, here's mine: 1. I laugh out loud... at my own jokes (sometimes before I've finished them), while watching tv (I get this from my dad), and at my thoughts (sometimes they're funny). 2. I hate obvious grammatical errors. Not that I'm always right when it comes to grammar, it's just that I find it important to read through things. Top offenders: 's when only s is needed, you're vs your, and leaving a preposition at the end of a sentence. 3. I love parentheses (they're just great!) 4. I'm deathly afraid of crickets 5. I have the power of recognizing faces. This doesn't work all the time and I rarely remember names, but I can usually remember where I met a person, what they were wearing, who they were with, even if it was 5 years ago. I can also see a person on tv and tell you what movies they've been in, including the movies where they only said one line. Like I said, it doesn't always work and it drives me CRAZY when that happens, so IMDB is my best friend. Also, before I knew of these powers, I would always say hi to people I had met and they would think I was some crazy stalker, so I stopped saying hello to spare them. Sometimes I do say hi, though, because I've been told that it's better to be the nice crazy person than the snob who doesn't say hi. I really go back and forth on this one, because I feel bad when people feel bad that they don't remember me. 6. I count everything I do- how many steps it takes to get somewhere, how many sips it takes the babies to drink a bottle, how many seconds it takes me to think of things, EVERYTHING! What are yours?

First Swim!

Lauren has asked that I make a guest appearance on the blog. So here I am. This past month has been totally nuts for Lauren and I. A bar exam, a surgery, a wedding, a move, and a reunion with friends. The close of August brings us to where we are today: Two days away from moving into our new apartment in Pasadena, and a few weeks away from my first day of work. We are looking forward to getting settled in and finally have some place to live again. In the meantime, we are enjoying ourselves with Lauren's family and took some time to take the kids for their first swimming experience. Kate and Ethan both were very cautious at first. Somewhere along the way, Kate decided that this was the most fun she's ever had, and spent about half an hour kicking and giggling her way around the pool. Ethan never quite caught the spark, but instead just laid around and let the water fall in and out of his little hands.

All in all, it was a great first swim and we are looking forward to several more in the future.

Definitely Twins

Yesterday, at church, someone asked me if stripped down to diapers, could I tell them apart? I thought that was pretty funny, because although I do think they look alike, I don't think they are confusable. You tell me...
